They take full accountability for their life and work on things under their control.
They don’t blame their failures on external circumstances instead, they take full accountability for their actions.
Developing a growth mindset is like taking your personal development game, up a notch!
But why is it important to develop a growth mindset?

When you develop a growth mindset, you are essentially in control of your results.
You take complete responsibility for your actions and find ways to improve your life.
You embrace all the challenges which come between you and your goal.
You keep your goals fixed and develop a flexible approach in achieving them.
You learn from your failures and own your success.
It is so crucial to develop a growth mindset and it’s a common trait every successful person shares.
To develop a growth mindset, you must know the areas you need to improve.
A difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset will give you more clarity.

There are two types of mindset:-

People with a fixed mindset have a victim mentality.
When they fail they blame it on external circumstances.
They think that they can’t improve their intelligence as they are born with it.
They have an inner dialogue of ‘I am just who I am and I can’t do anything about it.’
Here is how we can depict the difference between both in different parts of their lives.
Remember, you can have a growth mindset in most areas of your life but don’t try to grow in all areas at once.
While it is okay to have a fixed mindset but you can’t expect to grow with it.

1) Victim Mentality
You develop this when you think too much about the things you can’t control.
People with a victim mentality get frustrated when things don’t go according to their plan.
They think that life happens to them rather than for them.
They become hopeless for their future and believe that they can’t do anything about it.
This makes them live a sedentary lifestyle which is the main reason they don’t take any action.

The people with a fixed mindset have a negative dialogue inside their minds.
They doubt their intelligence and abilities to carry out a task.

This is the reason they avoid challenges because those voices convince them that they can’t do it.

The worst thing about your comfort zone is, the more you stay in it the more difficult it gets to come out from it.

They avoid new experiences because they have a fear of failure.
It is connected with their comfort zone as they don’t try anything which lies out of it.

They use it as a coping mechanism to convince them that it was not their fault.
The fear of failure starts a dangerous cycle of procrastination.
As we don’t want to fail, we don’t even start. This causes one to doubt their abilities.

5 ways to develop a growth mindset:-
1) Believe in yourself
The law of belief states that: “Whatever you believe, with conviction, becomes your reality.”
Everything starts with a belief. It develops a self-image and helps you make decisions in your life.
You act and respond to different situations in alignment with your beliefs.
You have got your beliefs from your environment and the people around you.
You see things not the way they are but the way you believe they are.
When you don’t work on your beliefs it ends up becoming your reality.
The good news is: All beliefs are learned and anything that has been learned can be unlearned.
The easiest way to believe in yourself is by taking action.
Thinking causes more thinking.
Inaction causes more inaction.
Similarly, action causes more action and builds momentum.
Action leads to Results leads to Confidence.
Confidence helps you in breaking your limiting beliefs.
You will get confidence when you get good at a certain skill and you do it by action, repetition, and hustling.
2) Develop your own life curriculum
You become the content you consume.
The people you talk to, the environment you live in, and the thoughts inside your mind.
Don’t consume content that will not benefit you in the long-term.
Read good books, listen to a podcast, watch an inspiring YouTube video.
Avoid sensational content like news and gossip.
They provide you with instant gratification but are of no use in the long-term.
When you develop a love for learning that is when you will grow.
Your mindset will become open and you will realize how much there is to learn.
3) Have unreasonable expectations for your future
The law of expectation states that: “Whatever you expect, with confidence, becomes your own self-fulfilling prophecy.”
The more confident your expectations, the more likely is that you will do and say things that are consistent with what you expect to happen.
When you expect positive things, you get positive results.
Similarly, when you expect negative things, you get negative results.
Worry is the most common cause of negative expectations.
People worry for two reasons:
- They are too lazy to prepare.
- They don’t believe in themselves.

You are sitting in the driving seat of your life don’t let anyone take the wheel.
Don’t take unnecessary advice, your brain is not a garbage dump.
Don’t fall into the trap of people telling you how to live your life.
Instead, make a plan, execute it and live life on your own terms.
Ask yourself these 2 questions before taking feedback from a source:
- Is this person an authority?
- Do they have the experience and wisdom to give you helpful advice?
If the answer is, Yes!
Don’t hesitate in asking and applying that advice in your life.
5) Do something for someone else
This is the best and the simplest way for one to develop a growth mindset.
The problem with people with a fixed mindset is that they only focus on themselves.
They think that there are limited sources of happiness in the world and for them to feel content.
They need to grab it before anyone else does.
When you go and do something for someone else, you switch to an abundance mindset.
You start to have gratitude for what you have and what you can do for others who are less privileged than you.
When you help others, you realize that you can still live with what you have.
Helping someone makes you feel good about yourself.
You start believing that you too can bring change to this world and that realization is a win on its own.
The more you give, the more you get back.
Help as many people as you can and don’t expect anything in return.

Focus on the area you want to develop and take some action to achieve it!
As long as you don’t try, you won’t figure out the areas in which you need to develop.
